Space Ball

This human gyroscope was developed by NASA for the Mercury and Gemini missions in the 1950s. It is designed to simulate the yaw and pitch of the space craft in flight. In training the astronaut had to be able to maintain their orientation in order to control the ship. After time spent here, the astronauts were able to safely orient themselves and land their craft.
